History of our Donations
Our Donation History 2002 - Present
The donations were slow to come in the first few years of the foundation, but the early Boards members pushed forward creating the first funds. Over time, the community recognized the benefits of a local Community Foundation which acts as an umbrella charity that supports other local charities. It invests most of the donations and then uses its investment earnings along with other funds to provide grants to local charities and municipalities.
The Community Foundations Funds have steadily grown through regular donations, the creation of new funds, event fundraising and investment income. In 2020, the foundation received it's largest donation from the Estate of John Moore for over $300k.
The Deep River and District Community Foundation (DRDCF) announced that it has received the largest single donation of over $300K in the history of the foundation from the John Moore Estate. This donation has pushed the DRDCF Assets to close to $1.5 million dollars. Since being formed the foundation has given back over $500,000 to our community.
John Moore, who was predeceased by his wife, son and sister, passed away in September 2019. He wanted to give back to his community, so he left his estate to the Deep River and District Community Foundation, where it will be invested and the annual income from the investment will be dispersed via grants to our local community charities to improve the quality of life in our community today and forever.

Founded in 2002, Deep River and District Community Foundation has been working hard with the help of our members and volunteers to provide funds to charities in our area. Our work is dedicated to funding and delivering charitable services, and we strive to inspire and improve the lives of those in our community.
